A team of researchers from the University of Newcastle in New South Wales discovered that young Australians measured how attractive a person is by the way he or she looks. The participants of the study were shown few facial images on a computer screen and were asked to adjust the settings to make the image look healthy and attractive. "They had three different experiments where they would look at the melanin axis, then they would look at the carotenoid axis, and in the last experiment, they were both combined, so that is where we got the result of seeing that they preferred the carotenoid to the melanin," said, the author of the report, Kristine Pezdirc.
